Comprehensive Financial Planning

Financial planning is not a one-time event. It's an evolving process that adapts as your life changes. At Wealth IQ, we integrate every aspect of your financial life into a cohesive, dynamic plan.

Tax Prep & Filing is also available through our trusted CPA partners.

Our process typically covers:

Clarity and foundation

We build a single balance sheet across every account you hold in the U.S. and Canada, including RRSPs, TFSAs, 401(k)s, and foreign real estate, so you can see your true net worth in one currency.
We map where your income actually goes each month and calculate the savings rate required to hit your goals.
We identify the money patterns driving your decisions, from scarcity to avoidance to over-giving, and build guardrails so your behavior does not undo your plan.

Tax and equity compensation

We build a vest-by-vest plan for your RSUs, stock options, and ESPP, covering withholding shortfalls, AMT exposure, 83(b) elections, and how to unwind concentrated employer stock.
We go through your benefits enrollment line by line to catch unused mega backdoor Roth capacity, HSA investing options, and deferred compensation election deadlines.
We model your tax picture across multiple years to time income, deductions, and Roth conversions, rather than reacting each April.

Asset protection

We audit your existing portfolio for overlap, hidden fees, concentration risk, and tax drag, then tell you what to fix first.
We calculate how much life and disability coverage you actually need as a high earner, and whether your employer group policy leaves a gap.
We review your wills, trusts, and beneficiary designations, and flag U.S. estate tax exposure for non-citizen spouses and Canadian-held assets.

Life design

We stress-test whether you can retire, or take a six to eighteen month career break, and model exactly what it costs you long-term.
We help couples decide what to combine, what to keep separate, and how to align on spending when incomes and money histories differ.
We compare 529 plans, custodial accounts, and Canadian RESPs to fund education without over-saving into the wrong account type.

Investment Management

Lean on us to build an investment strategy that reflects your risk tolerance, time horizon, and goals using time-tested strategies.

Tax Prep & Filing is also available through our trusted CPA partners.

Choose between Comprehensive Investment Management or DIY Investor Support.

Cross-Border Planning: Canada and U.S.

We understand the complexities of managing a life split between the U.S. and Canada.

Tax Prep & Filing is also available through our trusted CPA partners.

Our process covers these cross-border areas:

Making the move

We plan around Canada's deemed disposition on emigration, including which assets to sell before you leave and when to elect to defer the tax.
We help new arrivals open the right accounts, build U.S. credit from zero, and avoid the first-year tax mistakes that are expensive to unwind.
We plan both directions, including what changes if you return to Canada after building U.S. retirement and equity assets.

Accounts, tax and reporting

We explain how each Canadian account is taxed once you are a U.S. person, including why TFSAs and RESPs usually lose their tax advantage the moment you cross the border.
We coordinate FBAR, Form 8938, Form 3520, and T1135 obligations with your CPA so nothing gets missed and no penalty gets triggered.
We identify Canadian mutual funds and ETFs that trigger punitive PFIC treatment for U.S. taxpayers, and plan how to unwind them.

Long-term wealth across two countries

We coordinate CPP, OAS, Social Security, RRSP, and 401(k) income under the Canada-U.S. tax treaty to avoid double taxation.
We address wills that work in two countries, the non-citizen spouse marital deduction limit, and U.S. estate tax on Canadian-held assets.
We plan when to convert between CAD and USD, how much to hold in each, and how to stop losing money to retail conversion spreads.
We handle options and RSUs granted in one country and vesting in another, including income sourcing and relief from double taxation.
We plan around rental property, principal residence exemption timing, and Canadian corporations owned by U.S. residents.

One-Time and Hourly Consultations

Tax Prep & Filing is also available through our trusted CPA partners.

We review your existing plan and what you are paying for it, then tell you plainly whether you are getting value or being overcharged.
We model whether an S-corp election actually reduces your tax bill, set a defensible reasonable salary, and plan owner distributions.
We compare Solo 401(k), SEP IRA, and cash balance plan options based on your income and whether you have employees.
We give you a one-time answer on a specific vest, tender offer, IPO, or acquisition without requiring an ongoing engagement.
We handle treaty residency, state tax exposure, and account setup for people whose income and location do not line up with one tax jurisdiction.
We answer specific hourly questions about your move between Canada and the U.S. — timing, accounts, or tax steps — without requiring a full cross-border planning engagement.

Guided by Expertise, Driven by Success

Why do I need a Financial Planner?

While you can learn a lot about personal finance on your own, the sheer volume of available information can be overwhelming, and not all of it applies to your unique situation. At Wealth IQ, we simplify complex financial topics and focus on what matters most to you. A professional financial planner can help you when you:

  • Lack the time or expertise to craft and manage a comprehensive financial plan or investment strategy.
  • Feel overwhelmed by financial information and uncertain how it applies to your life.
  • Are new to the U.S. and still learning the ins and outs of the American financial system.
  • Need a trusted accountability partner to help you stick to your financial goals.
  • Experience stress or procrastination when managing your finances.
  • Would appreciate a second opinion on your financial strategy.
What makes Wealth IQ different from traditional Wealth Management firms?

We offer a boutique, hyper-personalized approach to financial planning. Here’s what sets us apart:

  • No Asset Minimums: We believe financial planning should be accessible to everyone.

  • Behavioral Finance: We understand that money is personal. Our planning integrates behavioral insights to support you in making decisions that align with your goals.
  • Innovative Tools: We use cutting-edge technology to enhance our financial planning process, ensuring you have a clear, comprehensive strategy.
What makes a Financial Planning engagement more complicated?

Every financial situation is unique. Factors that may add complexity to your plan include:

  • Planning for a family versus planning for an individual.
  • Being a business owner.
  • Owning financial assets or having obligations outside the United States.
  • Managing multiple banking or investment accounts.
  • Being in a higher income tax bracket.
  • Owning real estate properties.
I need Financial Planning, but I cannot afford to pay for your services. What should I do?

Thanks to technology, Financial Planning & Wealth Management is lot more accessible and affordable than it used to be. However, it can still fill out of reach for many. It is a complicated industry. If you KNOW you need financial planning, are willing to put in your own time and DO-IT yourself, but you simply know you cannot afford it. I want to help you; I will gladly spend an hour with you to give you some direction. Book time with me here

Get to Know Me

Hi, I'm Aditi. I founded Wealth IQ because I kept seeing the same gaps in financial advice for two groups who needed better support.

The first: Canadians living in or moving to the U.S. I've lived this journey personally. I moved from Canada to the U.S. first as an expat, then as a permanent resident, and eventually became a dual citizen of both countries. With Indian roots, a childhood in Saudi Arabia and Canada, and a life now planted in the U.S., I understand firsthand how complicated financial decisions become when your life spans multiple countries and cultures.

The second: corporate executives. I was one. I know what it feels like to build significant wealth but not have the time to manage it properly. Tax strategy, investment planning, equity compensation, and employer benefits all add up, and most of it goes unoptimized without a dedicated plan.

I bring 17 years of financial services experience, including building a digital investing platform at a major bank and advising C-suite leaders at GE on growth and financial risk. I hold an MBA from Chicago Booth and carry both the CFA and CFP designations.

Outside of work, I'm a student of meditation and holistic practices, which shape how I understand both money and life. My husband and I have been married for 11 years, and navigating infertility and health challenges together has expanded my view of what true wealth looks like for me personally.
